What is Yoga Therapy?

The International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT) defines Yoga Therapy as "the process of empowering individuals to progress toward improved health and well-being through the application of the philosophy and practice of Yoga."

This ancient tradition encompasses a range of mind-body practices, including postures, breathwork, deep relaxation, and meditation.

While yoga itself can be therapeutic, Yoga Therapists undergo advanced training and certification through accredited yoga therapy schools. Their education includes specialized topics such as mental health, disease, and pain management, enabling them to work with specific populations and address more complex conditions.

What Yoga Therapy is NOT

Yoga Therapy is not intended to diagnose illness or disease. It is not a replacement for medical care but rather a complementary treatment that can support and enhance the benefits of other healthcare treatments and therapies.
